Econlockhatchee River

Econlockhatchee River Bald Eagles

If you kayak at the Econ, you see Bald Eagles...That is what you do. That is what I did. Lots of eagles, or maybe the same ones several times. Who cares? Had a heck of a time in my return to my back yard.

Belted Kingfisher

Put In/ Take Out: C.S. Lee Park in HWY 46. Went from there to the South, in the St Johns River, to the confluence with the Econlockhatchee River. It was easy to find this time as the water levels are high and made a Bee-Line to the Econ.

Roseate Spoonbill

This first set of pics were taken in the St Johns River on my way to the Econ...

Then, a couple of hundred meters into the Econ found this pair. The female is the one to the right of the pic. It is bigger than the male. That is how you can tell. Also the beak is longer and females look meaner too.

Juvenile Bald Eagle

Karma is a ...The one in the previous pic pushed away some vultures from the tree. Then this other juvenile on the bottom of the pic, older than the first one, came and chased it away. See the semi-white head and tail vs the dark brown of the other?

Took a break on the river bank before turning around back to CS Lee Park. Did not get too far into the river even though paddled for three hours. It only took me one to go back to the put in. Views on my way down...

And this is it for this one. Thanks for returning to see the completed post, if you did so. Have to say that enjoyed this one a lot. Planning on going back and paddle from there to Snow Hill Rd bridge. Maybe before the end of the year. In the meantime stay tuned. Will share with you more Views From Our Kayak.
