Merry Christmas from Viera - Click Ponds, 4 Miles Rd, and Wetlands Park (NKP)

Northern Harrier

My day off, or half of it, was ruined by a miserable weather. This morning it was cloudy but worst than that, windy. Was on my way to Silver River when decided that did NOT worth the try and turned around. At noon the Sun was kind of present and gave it a try. Drove to the Mitch Grissom Viera Wetlands Park area and paid a visit to what is called the "Click Ponds". This not being a kayaking post we go to the pics with minimum comments.

Click Ponds

As I arrived to the Viera Wetlands Park went directly to the "Click" Ponds area. Here are the pics of what I saw there with the highlight being a Bald Eagle that showed up almost at the end of this round. It flew over but was not able to get a pic. You know, when that happens you start saying..."Come on...perch...perch...perch" Well, it perched and I did shoot a few pics...

After leaving the "Click" Ponds turned right into the 4 Miles Rd, which leads to the Moccasin Island Tract. A Northern Harrier flew by and looked like it landed in the field to my right. Saw it, thanks to the white stripe in the tail, and tried to get a pic. It was way too far but here are the pics of it and some more...

At the end of the 4 Miles Rd there is the park space for the Moccasin Island Tract. An old friend was there (I guess is the same one). It was very windy and did not get out of the van. Tried that once and it was too cold for a guy from the Caribbean so 90% of the pics are from the van...

Left the parking area on my way tot he Wetlands Park. But the 4 Miles Rd offered more pic chances...

The Northern Harrier was still in the same place I saw it earlier. Waited for it to leave flying but it did not. Of course, when I thought it was enough and started driving away looked back and there it was, flying away. Stopped the car and was able to get one pic of it flying, which made the opening of this post....

Thanks for reading and am just hoping the weather behaves as it does when I am at work. You are invited to come back for the next Views From Our Kayak.
