Wacissa River

Belted Kingfisher
First time at the Wacissa River. Have to confess that for the first time since started kayaking felt some king of chill when arrived at the put in area. No cars, only me and the sounds coming from the forest. Somehow felt some fear I had never felt before. Still decided to go ahead with the paddle and while it was not spectacular, it was OK.

Put In /  Take Out: Wacissa Springs Public Boat Ramp. If a google search does not point to this place just google Wacissa River Canoe and Kayak Rental and follow the end of the Wacissa Springs Rd. It is free.

Wacissa River seeing from the Big Blue Spring Run

Had high expectations with this paddle and came out a little dissapointed. Was expecting much more. The wildlife display was decent. The only subjects that I missed were a Bald Eagle who flew between the Sun and me, and a Barred Owl. The rest I was able to shoot pics at. Started my paddle around 8:30 and paddled downstream to a small island splitting the river, around 3 miles. The water is crystal clear and visited Big Blue and Cassidy Springs. Big Blue is impressive...beautiful. Here is what I saw...

The Wacissa is wide in this area. I have read that it narrows downstream. I just did not make it too far. Thanks for checking us and hope you like this post. Consider yourself invited to come back for our next post. We will be sharing with you more Views From Our Kayak.
