Weekie Wachee River

Weekie Wachee River

If I ever opened a post on this blog with a non wildlife pic cannot remember. But if there is a place where you can do that is the Weekie Wachee River. As my Cyber Brother in Law says..."This is so beautiful and relaxing". Wildlife wise this paddle trip can also be my worst one ever. But in terms of scenery and beauty the Weekie Wachee River is second to none.

Pied Billed Grebe

Put in / Take Out: Did something I had never done before. Did put in at the Weekie Wachee Springs State Park, went downstream with the current for 5.5 miles to Roger's Park, where my wife picked us after our paddle. There is a $6 fee per boat for launching there. If you want the people in charge can drive you and your boat back to the park. Do not know what the fee is since it is not listed anywhere. Try their web site and see if you have better luck finding it.

Manatee at the Hospital Hole

Did not have a good paddle in terms of wildlife pics. The river was as crowded as it could be with small flotillas going by every ten of fifteen minutes. At one point I have up and decided to reach Roger's Park as soon as I could. Here are the pics...

Bald Eagle

Raccoon. This one was a feisty dude. Jumped on a girl's kayak and was ready to do the same on mine until met my paddle.

Anhinga

Missed a deer that was pic friendly until I lifted the camera. Then left the area running. Let us complete this post with scenic pics.

At the Hospital Hole. Manatee surfacing to his left.

This is it for this one. Not a good day but a bad day at the river beats a good day at the office. Thanks for visiting our blog and come back. We will be soon sharing more Views From Our Kayak.
