Orlando Wetlands Park

Wabbit (always call it like that)...ehr...Rabbit
Trip to the past on this first pic. Brought so many memories from my childhood. Poor Elmer. Anyways...Back to the future now. The weather held me back today one more time. Wanted to kayak Canaveral Sea Shore but did not dare to go due to the horrible forecast. Plan B was the Lower Wekiva River but after looking the weather radar saw a huge zone of rain coming this way. Decided to stay at home but then at noon felt the need of taking a walk and see some wildlife. So to the nearby Orlando Wetlands Park I went. As I do with my no-kayaking posts will go directly to the pics. In the meantime a sample of what I saw today in a gray day at the Orlando Wetlands Park.

That is it for this one. Looking forward to the next  post, hopefully from the water if the weather cooperates. It sucks to have nice weather during the week only to see it deteriorate on the weekend. Thanks for reading and see you soon.

  1. Wow, I have never seen a green heron with such a big fish! Usually see them grab tiny minnows and swallow them in a gulp. Did you watch this one swallow the fish?

    1. I believe it did. Was not able to see when it did from where I was but seemed to me the fish went down the pipe.

  2. All I have to say about the green heron is, touche'

As for the weather, if had not been bad I would have missed two of the best soft shelled turtle photos I've ever seen.

    1. The Softshells were out. Saw two in a 20 minutes span. That is one wildlife form we do not see too often.

  3. Your pics are always so epic, Luis. Well done. I haven't been to Orlando Wetlands Park yet. It's pretty close to me, so I have no excuse. :)
