St. Johns River (via Blue Spring State Park)

Bald Eagle

Short paddle at the waters of the St. Johns River via Blue Spring State Park. Rain showed up uninvited but it was expected. Still had a blast this morning. Did paddle around the State Park. Went as far as the area in front of the French Ave landing. It was very windy and being in the open waters of the St Johns was not too much fun. Had an extended photo session with the Bald Eagle of the opening. It was high in a tree in front of the Put In. I waited...and waited...and waited until I was tired of waiting. Then waited a little more...and paid off.

Not much to say about this one. Already said it in the opening paragraph. Went up the board walk at the State Park. A few manatees already in the run.

Heard the distinctive call of a Bald Eagle. I knew where to look for it as there is usually a mating pair around the State Park. Found the eagle in a tree in front of the State Park put in. I did struggle to find a spot to shoot pics. The wind tossed me all over the area. Finally found a spot against the vegetation mat just South of the put in. There I shoot lots of pics and waited for the eagle to fly and/or to go for a fish.

It went to the other usual tree near the confluence of the run with the St Johns. Gave a few minutes to enjoy its lunch in peace then I did go for a few more shots...
