Silver River

Now, there is no better pic to illustrate this is a true View From Our Kayak

Made it back to the water and to the Silver River, a Central Florida paradise. Sorry for the delay but had a really hard time with my computer but finally is working at 60% capacity I would say. That is good enough for at least post some pics. Had a wonderful day at the Silver River: monkeys, manatees, gators, and much more...Here we go!!!!!!!

Manatee at Silver River(taken with GoPro)

Put in/ Take Out: Ocala Boat Club(aka Ray's Wayside). For location and costs please check previous posts about this location. (the older the better)

Friends!!!!!

One of my shortest days at the Silver River. Usually I take my time and the trip upstream itself can take me 5 hours. This time it took me "only" three with pic stops included. Two hours on my way back to Ray's Wayside, mostly because did stop for a while to take pics of a monkey troop. Here are the pics of my upstream trip...

This gator seems to have dislocated jaw. Poor thing...

Green Heron

A couple in a kayak told me about three manatees in a cove upstream. I did not find the three of them. Just found this one...not complaining though...

Anhinga in breeding mode

Did stop at the State Park launch site for 15 minutes. Stretched my legs, my back, are a snack I brought with me, and started my downstream paddle. Lots of activity at the park due the Spring Fest. Saw a red kayak belonging to my mentor Master Dave Cannon, from Dave's Yak Tales. Did not have the chance to say hello. Here are my pics during the downstream paddle...

Green Heron

Moorhen
Was thinking that this trip would be my second monkey-less paddle in a row at the Silver River when saw activity in the forest, two boats, and two kayaks looking at the river bank. That only means monkeys are there...

Rhesus Monkey at the Silver River

Spent around 25 minutes with the monkey troop, then decided to continue. Here are the rest of the pics...

The same "friends" from the second pic form this post.

Osprey

Made it to Ray's Wayside at 3:30 PM. I cannot remember finishing a paddle at the Silver River so early. It was a good one regardless. Hope you like the pics. See you soon. Let us see from where we will be sharing the Views From Our Kayak.
