Silver River

Silver River Gator

I have done many stupid things in my life. Today my stupidity reached a new level, all for a pic. Am not telling you how did I get the opening pic and just hope my Mom does not see it...never. Am taking advantage of a rare whole day at home to finish this post and yesterday's post at Fort De Soto so comments and details will be just a few.

Put In / Take Out: Ray's Wayside (aka Ocala Boat Club). Please check previous posts from the Silver River for location. The fee is $5 per vehicle and take cash with you as sometimes there is no attendant and an honor system is use.

Yellow Crowned Night Heron dries its feathers in a steamy day at the Silver River

Got a pic of almost everything I saw. Missed an otter who played hide and seek with me and a flying Black Crowned Night Heron. It was hot but it helps the Silver River is a spring fed river and nothing better than a bit of that water on your head to cool you down. Beautiful day regardless, lots of boats but it should be expected at the Silver River. Paddled 10.2 miles from the put in to the State Park and back. Here we go...

Used the Fort King Paddle Trail on my way up river coming down through the river on my return. It was here where saw a monkey troop who was on high alert due to a pair of small gators (~5ft) patrolling the waters. One of the reptiles even hissed at me and am going to leave it there. You do not want to know what I did then.

Classic Fort King Paddling Trail pic...I expected to hear Tarzan anytime

Took a break at the launch area in the park and started my return paddle maybe 45 minutes later. Did stop at the main spring more as an habit than anything else. Did not make many pic stops on my way down...
